About Southern Indiana
Dance Marathon

What We Do
Southern Indiana Dance Marathon is a part of Miracle Network Dance Marathon, a movement benefiting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. CMNH is a non-profit organization that raises funds and awareness for more than 170 pediatric hospitals across North America. We are the only children’s charity committed to having 100% of the funds raised stay local to support local kids. Over the years dance marathons have become one of the #1 peer-to-peer fundraising organizations in the nation. Since inception, Miracle Network Dance Marathon has raised more than $250 million for the kids across North America- ensuring that no child or family fights pediatric illness or injury alone.

Our History
Dance Marathon started in honor of Ryan White, a young man who received treatment at Riley Hospital for Children after contracting AIDS from a bad blood transfusion when he was just 13-years old. He lost his battle right before he was to begin his college career at Indiana University. Students at the university celebrated his legacy by hosting the first dance marathon in the spring of 1990.
Southern Indiana Dance Marathon started to honor Clare Scheller. Clare was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010 right after graduating from Mater Dei High School in Evansville. She was later diagnosed with avascular necrosis, after being sent to Riley Hospital for Children. Because of the level of care that Clare received at Riley Hospital, she won her battle. Despite all of her and her family’s hardship, she successfully graduated from the University of Southern Indiana in 2015.
SIDM is entering our 9th year as a Miracle Network Dance Marathon Program! With the love and support of our community have been able to raise thousands of dollars for the kids up at Riley Hospital. Here is the evolution of our fundraising totals throughout the years:

High School
Marathons
Since 2016, SIDM has been partnering with local high schools in order to help foster and grow their own Dance Marathon programs. Currently, we are partnered with Heritage Hills High School and Boonville High School. SIDM continues to mentor and support high schoolers in their efforts to be FTK (for the kids) every year. We are super proud of our high schools and the amazing things they do for Riley Hospital for Children!
